St. George's Home and Queen Mary of the Most Holy Rosary Church by Isra Abid

At the heart of Hintonburg stands a building that has witnessed over a century of transformation, devotion, and care: Queen Mary of the Most Holy Rosary Church. With its striking red brick exterior and quiet dignity, this landmark at 1153 Wellington St. West is more than just a place of worship. It is a testament to the enduring role of Catholic social services and community life in Ottawa. Once home to St. George's Home for Immigrant children and now an active parish, the the building continues to radiate purpose, rooted in tradition, yet open to change.

Today, the Roman Catholic parish remains a vibrant spiritual home, offering regular Masses, sacraments, and community outreach programs. Notably, the Rectory House Renovation Project aims to provide affordable housing for refugees, continuing the church's longstanding commitment to supporting those in need.

Between the bricks and beams of 1153 Wellington Street West live the echoes of countless journeys; the laughter of children beginning anew, and the prayers of a community rooted in faith. Here, history breathes, and hope endures, as tales of resilience, service, and faith continue to shape the shape of this historic place.
