146 Bayswater

First listed as living on Fourth Avenue

“This is a little history of Bayswater avenue in the old village of Hintonburg. Forty-two and a half years ago Mr. F. J. Merrill moved onto the street, which was then known as 4th avenue. At that time there were only 7 houses on the street — between Wellington and Carling avenue. The people who had already settled there were: Thomas Church, who was a foreman at Bronson’s saw mill. John Ralph, a team owner. Hugh Sparks, carpenter. John Hogan, section foreman of the city, now living in Montreal. Jas. Riddell, who was an official at the Bronson mill. David Cuthbertson, contractor. John Kennedy, occupation not remembered.”

John Kennedy was one of the three other people whose houses burned down in the Great Fire of 1900.
